A moment from Top Chef VIP is causing a stir on social media after one of the contestants burst into tears upon discovering the ingredient she had to prepare: a whole guinea pig, also known as a cavy.
The contestant in question is Mexican actress Nailea Norvind, who couldn't hide her shock at the sight of the animal. Upon seeing it, she began to cry and exclaimed, "It's a baby!" while also expressing her displeasure at having to cook it.
The moment quickly sparked a debate among viewers. Some sharply criticized the show for presenting the animal in this way and questioned the decision to use it as an ingredient on television.
"Who thought it was a good idea to position the animal's carcass like that so it could be prepared on TV?" wrote one user, while another questioned the staging: "The production is terrible; who thought it was a good idea to put it in the fetal position, all just to produce this stupid content?"

“They eat beef, chicken, and fish and get outraged about a guinea pig. And yes, guinea pigs are eaten like any other animal,” another person commented.
In fact, guinea pig is not an unusual food in several Latin American countries. Eating guinea pig is part of the culinary traditions of the Andes, and it is prepared in various ways there, particularly in Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Colombia.
Therefore, the video sparked a discussion that goes far beyond the participant's reaction: Is it different to prepare an animal that many people consider a pet, even though it is a traditional food in other cultures?
While social media remains divided between those who consider the scene unnecessarily gruesome and those who point out that this animal is traditionally eaten, the moment has become one of the most discussed of this season of Top Chef VIP.
